ARTEMIS TALKS: first webinar report

The 1st ARTEMIS Talks webinar held on the 16th June, Into The Reactive Heritage Digital Twin, attracted over 420 participants on Zoom and YouTube. The recording can be watched on YouTube

The webinar began with a short video of viewpoints on ARTEMIS and the innovative use of Reactive Heritage Digital Twins (RHDTs). Franco Niccolucci was the first speaker and he provided an overview of the project and its objectives, giving examples of how RHDTs work in practice. He also clarified the definition of a Digital Twin. He explained how ARTEMIS will use a Knowledge Base of metadata which users can query using natural language. Simulations and experiments will be carried out on local duplicates in conjunction with edge node computing frameworks, a technology which will be tested in the ARTEMIS pilots.

Anestis Koutsoudis followed with a presentation on the pilots which will be used to validate the ARTEMIS technology. This activity starts with a set of defined tasks and a pilot design framework. A checklist will be used to ensure that a diverse set of case studies are produced. A target set of end users have been identified, and the pilots will be grouped around four core objectives and use a range of complementary technologies. Fifteen cultural heritage sites from across Europe are targeted by the pilots. Anestis then showed a video of an annotation prototype, METIS, for 3D models. An application of this tool would be crowd movement simulation in popular cultural heritage sites.

The webinar concluded with a question and answer session which addressed the use of AI and integration of existing monitoring systems.
