Heritage Expert Board

Connecting digital twin research with real-world heritage practice.

The Heritage Expert Board is the space where ARTEMIS listens to the wider heritage community.

It brings together experienced conservators, curators, researchers, heritage institutions and research infrastructures to ensure that concepts such as the Heritage Digital Twin (HDT) and the Reactive Heritage Digital Twin (RHDT) remain grounded in real needs, constraints and priorities from the field.

Digital illustration of a Gothic cathedral with intricate architectural details, including pointed arches, rose windows, and spires. The background features a transparent, glowing representation of the cathedral itself, creating an overlay effect between reality and digital projection. The image is set against a dark blue background, highlighting the outlines and details of the structure.

What is the role of the Heritage Expert Board?

The Heritage Expert Board advises ARTEMIS on how digital twin technologies can genuinely support cultural heritage.

Its role is to:

  • highlight the needs, priorities and constraints of heritage professionals and institutions;
  • comment on key concepts and developments related to the HDT and RHDT;
  • suggest concrete use cases where digital twins can make a difference for conservation, research, management and public engagement;
  • raise potential risks, ethical questions and practical challenges that the project should take into account.

In this way, the Board helps ensure that the solutions developed by ARTEMIS remain useful, realistic and relevant for the wider heritage community.
